ADM Aéroports de Montréal has chosen Frequentis’ X10 VCS to enhance airspace communication for the apron management section (AMS) at YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport.

The system is operated by ADM, but air navigation service provider NAV Canada will share access and operate radio and telephone resources, as a contingency solution in case of emergency tower evacuation.

“The X10 is Frequentis’ next-generation VCS, designed to enhance business continuity throughout ATM operations, providing standard set-ups with fast turnaround times as well as the resilience and cybersecurity features required for safety-critical ATM operations, including multi-level redundancy,” said Michael Lang, managing director of Frequentis Canada.

Frequentis X10 is designed for the effective operation of both virtualised and traditional airspace environments. Using its agile state-of-the art service-oriented architecture, the X10 adds future operational benefits through seamless integration with other systems, according to Frequentis. The new architecture concept also offers the flexibility to adjust its capacity based on demand and provides highest operational availability. With the natively implemented multi-redundancy methods, the X10 utilises two independent IP networks for exceptional redundancy and voice quality on air-ground connections though parallel audio.

With the new service-oriented architecture based on MosaiX multi-redundancy concepts, and compliance with standards such as ED-137, X10 brings true innovation into ATC communications.
