Sixteen sleeping pods have been installed in Terminal 3 at Vienna International Airport.

Provided by Italian start-up Zzzleepandgo, the “smart lounges” are equipped with a comfortable space to rest, as well as electricity and USB ports, free W-Lan, shelves and a foldable table. Each pod features a multimedia entertainment system to stream films and music as well as to control ventilation, lighting and the opaque curtains. The cabins are regularly cleaned and the facilities provided are in line with COVID-19 regulations in Austria.

The pods can be booked in advance on an hourly or daily basis either online or on location. Users register directly at the sleeping cabin of their choice via a modern touchpad and virtual reception which reads their passport, credit card and, depending on the requirements, their COVID-19 certificate. When this is completed, the door to the smart lounge opens. Once the paid-for rental time has concluded, the cabin is cleaned and disinfected. The cabins also feature an automatic ventilation system to remove air-borne bacteria and viruses.

Use of the Zzzleepandgo cabins at Vienna costs €9 per hour. They can also be booked for a full night (from €48) or longer.

Founded in 2015 by university students, Zzzleepandgo designs, produces and installs high-tech sleeping cabins. In 2022, the Italian start-up will launch facilities at 16 international airports in nine countries, among them Vienna, Milan-Malpensa, Venice, Verona, Warsaw and Rio de Janeiro-Galeao.
