Poland’s Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has signed the contract for the design of its air traffic control tower.

The building will be designed by JSK Architekci, the studio behind the western pier of Terminal 1 at Munich Airport, and the tower will be the tallest building of its kind in Poland, at a height of 105 metres.

JSK Architekci is a Polish architectural studio whose portfolio includes the design of Terminal 2 of Gdańsk Airport and the terminal at Wrocław Airport.

“We selected an experienced partner, whose previous projects guarantee high quality work,” said Eliza Wysocka, from CPK’s design and engineering office.
“I believe that the designer will propose a very interesting architectural design for the tower, which will meet all the requirements agreed with the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.”

“We are delighted that our design for the air traffic control tower will become an important element of CPK airport, the most important airport in Poland,” said Mariusz Rutz, an architect and board member of JSK Architekci. “I am convinced that we will create something that will become a unique and recognisable element of the airport while at the same time fitting its overall architectural concept.”

The scope of the contract will also include services related to the design, such as consultancy during construction works. The contract is valued at PLN 15.5m ($3.6m).
