Spanish air navigation service provider FerroNATS has won an apron management service (SDP) contract at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport.

FerroNATS will take responsibility for apron management at terminals T123 and T4 at Spain's main airport for four years, with the option to add a further year. It takes over from SAERCO, which has provided the service for the last five years.

Under the terms of the contract, FerroNATS will be responsible for managing and ordering the movement of aircraft on the apron at Madrid. Traffic levels at the airport have almost reached the levels of before the coronavirus pandemic, when more than 426,000 movements were recorded annually.

FerroNATS is expected to take over from SAERCO in January 2023.
