Sharjah International Airport has completed its preparations on behalf of the pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj rituals.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) hub has adopted a set of protocols for the pilgrims travelling to the Hajj, an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca. Measures taken included setting aside lounge space and assigning dedicated staff.

Sharjah Airport Authority also collaborated with the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention to provide the necessary medical examinations and information to ensure the safety of the Hajj pilgrims. A health handbook was distributed, containing advice and directions to follow before reaching the Holy Land in Saudi Arabia, while there, and on their return. In addition, a religious guide was developed to show travellers how to carry out the Hajj rituals, in coordination with the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah.

Furthermore, the airport provided extra transportation for luggage, and a number of counters and smart gates were designated for pilgrims.
