Following a $53m investment, Panama City has inaugurated a metro line connecting the city centre and the international airport.

Panama is now one of the only Latin American hubs with a direct rail connection between the centre of its capital and its main airport. The works, which generated 890 jobs, were carried out by Brazilian company OEC – Engenharia e Construção, also responsible for the construction of a second terminal at the airport.

"We are proud to say that this project was executed with 98% Panamanian labour, a team of committed professionals who exceeded all challenges and expectations," said Tito Serra, director of OEC contracts in Panama.
