The newest restaurant at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) was inspired by the career of local sports legend Dirk Nowitzki.

In Terminal C, near Gate C37,  Nowitzki restaurant celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured Dirk Nowitzki, who played for 21 seasons in the NBA (National Basketball Association) with the Dallas Mavericks. The new concept celebrates Nowitzki’s Hall of Fame career and offers many of his favourite meals and drinks from around the world.

“This new restaurant is once again elevating our terminal dining experience by offering great food that connects our customers with one of our hometown sports heroes,” said Ken Buchanan, DFW’s executive vice president of revenue management and customer experience. “From national brands to local flavours, DFW continues to enhance its stable of world-class shopping and dining options.”

In addition to food and beverages, Nowitzki will feature new technology including in-restaurant augmented-reality experiences in which customers will feel like they are interacting with Dirk Nowitzki himself. The location, operated by D&B Mitchell Group, will also sell merchandise exclusive to DFW.
