Mitie has secured a new five-year multimillion pound contract to deliver integrated facilities management services for UK air traffic control services provider NATS.

The contract will see Mitie deliver fully integrated facilities management (FM) services for NATS, and includes the option to extend the arrangement for a further two years.

Under the contract, Mitie will provide NATS with a suite of FM services, including critical engineering, energy and controls, grounds maintenance, security, logistics, waste management, and cleaning, as well as additional project work. Mitie will deliver this service across the UK, including at NATS’ Corporate Technology Centre in Whiteley, its air traffic control centres in Swanwick and Prestwick, its airport towers at locations such as Heathrow, Stansted, and Glasgow, and even at its communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) sites.

Mitie technology involved includes Mozaic software, which optimises workspace performance, giving a full oversight of Mitie’s performance and management of the contract. Mozaic shows key data such as the job status, time to complete, and first-time fix rate for all tasks undertaken as part of the contract. Data gathered by the software can be filtered by site, building, and asset, and can be used to generate insights to identify areas for improvement to drive cost efficiencies and service enhancements for NATS.

Mitie’s Plan Zero team will be working on the contract to identify areas for carbon saving, with electric vehicles used by team members wherever possible. The company is also looking into the introduction of sustainable uniforms.

NATS is the UK's leading provider of air traffic control services, handling 2.4 million flights and 250 million passengers in UK airspace every year.
