Airports in the Netherlands are backing the ‘Power Up’ initiative with the goal of facilitating and accelerating the introduction of electric regional air mobility in Europe.

Eindhoven Airport, Groningen Airport Eelde, Lelystad Airport, Maastricht Aachen Airport and Rotterdam The Hague Airport are among 18 partners supporting the initiative.

VoltAero, which is developing the Cassio electric-hybrid aircraft, is another member of the group alongside KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the Dutch Railways and the Netherlands Aerospace Center.

The partners said they want to jointly develop passenger processes and coordinate operational airport processes. Test flights are also scheduled to explore various electric aircraft technologies.

Regional airports involved in Power Up aim to be operationally ready for electric aircraft by 2026.

The Power Up initiative is an excellent opportunity to show how Cassio and other e-airplanes offer the solution to introducing a new era of efficient air mobility with low-carbon emissions and reduced noise. As we progress toward Cassio’s production and service introduction, we are proud to partner with the Power Up initiative in pioneering sustainable aviation.
