Travel F&B specialist Areas has opened a new Santagloria point of sale in the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport

Santagloria is a coffee and bakery chain within the food and beverage group formed by FoodBox and Lateral. The opening of the new outlet, a 234m2 space in Terminal 2, is the brand’s first at Madrid-Barajas and its seventh in Spanish airports.

This new opening forms part of the macro food and beverage tender won by Areas in 2023, which saw the company awarded the concession of 35 outlets in the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport.

Currently, the coffee & bakery brand is present in Alicante, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat (two outlets in T2), Bilbao, Ibiza, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas (two outlets in T2 and one in T3) and Valencia airports. The brand is also present in Seville’s Santa Justa Train Station and in the IFEMA Madrid fairgrounds.

“At Areas we are committed to responding to travellers’ needs and demands, offering the widest variety of culinary options in our outlets.  With this association we will continue to reaffirm our mission and to work on creating different and unique experiences for our travellers,” said Mireya Muñoz, marketing and expansion director at Areas Iberia.

Beyond our culinary options, Areas’ establishments stand out for incorporating digital technologies and solutions to improve customer experience, such as the integration of sustainable development models in each of its proposals, thereby minimising the use of plastic and reducing food waste.

The latest opening forms part of the FoodBox Lateral Group’s growth plan for 2024. Last year saw the opening of 47 new outlets from the Group’s different brands, with particular importance in the coffee & bakery chain which has now increased its network to a total of 153 outlets.
