Canada’s WestJet has contracted Swissport’s ground services at Kona International Airport at Keāhole on the Big Island in Hawaii.

The addition of Kona International Airport (KOA) means that Westjet now relies on Swissport's ground services at all four destinations it serves on the islands.

At KOA, Swissport is now responsible for the ramp handling of aircraft, and, through its joint-venture Hallmark Aviation Services, for the wellbeing of WestJet's passengers at check-in and boarding gates. In addition to Kona, Swissport operates at Honolulu Airport on Oʻahu; Kahului Airport on Maui; and Lihue Airport on the island of Kauaʻi. WestJet and Swissport have recently extended all existing contracts for a further two years.

Swissport serves the Canadian carrier at 13 airports in five countries, including the two hub airports, Halifax and Quebec, in WestJet's home market, Canada.
