Travel F&B operator SSP Group has expanded its reach across Spain’s airports through a mixture of new and renewed contracts.

Two retentions and one new contract mean that SSP will be operating a further eight units in Spanish airports.

SSP’s renewed contract with Seville Airport has extended the partnership for a further seven years and will see a variety of F&B brands introduced across five new units, including Starbucks, Ritazza and American sports bar O’Learys. SSP will also operate The Garden restaurant and an as yet unnamed gastro restaurant, which will offer premium tapas and utilise local suppliers where possible.

SSP has also retained its business at Granada Airport, where it will operate two new units. The deal will see the partnership between the airport and SSP extended for a further five years.

As part of the Granada arrangement, Spain’s first Point convenience store will open. The new store, an SSP brand which has seen great success in Norway, will offer a coffee menu as well as sandwiches, baguettes, pastries and more. SSP will also operate a branch of The Garden restaurant in Granada. In addition, the company has secured a new landside unit in Alicante Airport on a five-year contract.

Jeremy Fennell, CEO Nordics and Continental Europe at SSP Group, said: “It is our aim to create a perfectly tailored brand mix to meet the needs of our passengers and enhance their experience. We’ve done this by introducing well-known international brands along with an array of authentic local options. We are expecting hugely popular summer periods in holiday hot spots such as our locations in Spain.”
