In Bagshuttle, Alstef Group has developed a low-bay bag storage solution that offers both a minimal footprint and the capacity to optimise baggage handling system throughput

Checked-bag storage facilities mean passengers can check in their bags much earlier than their normal travel schedule might allow. This means not only that travellers have more time to enjoy key non-aeronautical revenue generating spaces such as shops and restaurants, but that those transferring to a later flight have the luxury of not having to collect and re-check their bags.

Effective checked-bag storage can also optimise the baggage handling system throughput and functionality. Having the ability to batch-build bags at make-up will alleviate congestion and lower peak demands, which can delay capital expenditure intended to increase capacity. Additionally, optimised bag make-up provides more granular sortation options such as sorting by class or transfer passengers.
