Heathrow has refreshed its shops and restaurants ahead of the Christmas period, when two million passengers are expected to use the airport.

New retailers and restaurants have opened at the airport, and winter figures so far show that sales are up already on last year. Heathrow’s research also found that, on average, travellers are spending an extra hour at the airport in comparison to pre-pandemic times.

Fraser Brown, retail and property director at Heathrow, said: “Throughout this year, we’ve been working hard to give travellers a refreshed offering and experience at Heathrow and we hope they can relax and make use of some of the new brands and services we have to offer.”

Among the new services is Heathrow Reserve and Collect – a click and collect service for Terminal 5. This will enable passengers to collect products from world-class brands on offer in the terminal, as well as new brands not usually available at the airport. Travellers can make their purchases via Heathrow’s online shopping platform and either collect the items once through security or buy them at the Terminal 5 collection desk. Aspinal of London is the first brand to participate in the service, with others expected to follow soon.

New eateries at the airport include Big Smoke Taphouse & Kitchen, from local brewer and gin distiller Big Smoke, ‘instagrammable’ café EL&N London, Kanishka Kitchen, a fine dining Indian restaurant, and Southeast Asian restaurant Shan Shui.
