These three aircraft will be operated by No 4 Squadron - based at RAAF Base Williamtown, New South Wales - employed in a forward air control training role.
In October, Pilatus delivered the first two grey-painted PC-21s to the RAAF. All previous aircraft wore bright red and white training colours for use by the service's Air Training Wing and the RAAF's aerobatic team, the Roulettes, replacing the older PC-9/A (T) basic fast-jet training aircraft that were previously employed. The Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU) at RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia will operate at two PC-21s in trials and as chase aircraft. The Roulettes team made their public debut with the PC-21 on October 3, a story which was covered in the December issue of Combat Aircraft.
This latest delivery will provide the last PC-21s to the RAAF, completing an order for 49 which was placed in September 2015.
