The airport community came together at inter airport Southeast Asia 2023 to discuss and propel modernisation and digitalisation for long-haul growth.

inter airport Southeast Asia, Asia’s international airport exhibition and conference, took place this week. A strong line-up of industry heavyweights included Jean Roche, head of international engineering services at ADP International, Piyush Chawla, managing director APAC at Cirium, and Angela Ng, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s director, aviation industry.

Taking place at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the biennial event came at a time when the aviation industry outlook is positive and supported by an upsurge in air travel demand. It attracted 4,000 representatives of airports, airlines, ground handling firms, architects, design studios and consultancies.

 

Conference: Aviation thought-leaders converge
Returning after a four-year hiatus, the three-day conference attracted 30 senior-level speakers from airports, business partners and the broader aviation ecosystem.

Themed Re-Conditioning for Asia's long-haul growth, the conference offered an overview of the APAC aviation industry, addressing challenges, identifying opportunities, and revealing exclusive statistics/data/trends from leading analysts and consultants.

Speakers included: Latchida Apaphant, executive vice president (corporate strategy), Airports of Thailand; Tan Lye Teck, executive vice president, safety and security, Changi Airport Group; and Ma Yin, vice president, Beijing Daxing International Airport of Capital Airports Holdings Limited Company.

Day Two of the conference looked at sustainability, carbon net zero and eco-airports. It focused in particular on India’s booming aviation market and on China’s Beijing Daxing International Airport. Day Three offered insights into the opportunities in several key markets throughout Asia as new airport infrastructure development plans unfold.

Exhibition: Asia and the world do business
At the three-day exhibition, 150 exhibitors from 28 countries and regions showcased a wide range of products and technologies. Several of them launched their latest offerings, among them ITW GSE, which revealed its 7400 eGPU, a battery-powered ground power unit, Sanxing, which displayed its new TowFLEXX TF5 Towbarless remote-control aircraft tug, and Cognitec, with its new FaceVACS-Entry improved face recognition technology.

“An industry platform like inter airport allows us to introduce our latest innovation to a vast number of new and existing clients and partners and gives us the opportunity to connect with the community and find out about the latest developments in the industry,” said Bryan Loh, manager outside sales, Sanxing.

The exhibition featured strong international representation, including official pavilions from Germany, Italy and Singapore. German representation at the event grew 27% compared to 2019.
