US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood has appointed Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport CEO Paul J Wiedefeld to the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Oversight Committee for a three-year term.

The ACRP was established by Congress to produce research to improve the planning, design and operation of airports across the US.

Managed by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies, the ACRP aims to address any issues faced by airport operators.  The committee is responsible for selecting research projects focusing on diverse areas of airport management, including safety, security, operations, environment, planning, design, construction, maintenance and administration.
