Orlando International Airport handled 1,047,434 international passengers in the first three months of 2013, representing a 10.8% growth compared to the first quarter of 2012.

Frank Kruppenbacher, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, commented:  “As the first airport in the nation to electronically streamline the 1-94 entry form, and one of the first with plans to introduce electronics self-serve kiosks into the international passenger processing area, we have been working closely with Customs and Border Protection.  This is necessary to accommodate forecast growth in international traffic and to plan accordingly.”

Despite the rise in international traffic, the number of domestic travellers decreased by 2.2% to 7,945,104.  This affected the airport’s overall traffic figures, which lowered slightly to 8,992,538 passengers – a 0.9% decrease year-on-year.
