Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) has signed a seven-year contract with Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) to provide civil air navigation services at ADAC’s five airports, starting May 1.

Worth more than AED538 million (US$146m), the contract includes Abu Dhabi, Al Bateen Executive, Al Ain, Sir Baniyas Island and Delma Island airports, which collectively handle around 200,000 air traffic movements a year.

GAL was selected following a year-long tender process, which included worldwide organisations such as Navtech, Airways New Zealand, ARNA, Serco (who previously provided ADAC) and INWCO.

Through the new agreement, GAL will manage the maintenance of the airports’ communications and navigation equipment.  It has teamed up with European air navigation service provider LFV Aviation Consulting.
