The ProVision Automatic Target Detection (ATD) checkpoint security scanner from L-3 Security & Detection Systems (SDS) has met European standards, following testing under the European Civil Aviation Conference Common Evaluation Process (CEP).

Thomas M Ripp, President of L-3 SDS, commented:  “Our ProVision ATD system is the first advanced personnel screener to meet the EU standard, an important milestone that enables more travellers to be safely and effectively scanned.

The system uses safe millimetre wave technology to detect automatically potential metallic and non-metallic threats by highlighting any anomalies on a generic mannequin image, thereby protecting passenger privacy.

More than 1,000 systems have been procured worldwide with deployments on six continents.
