FOLLOWING CRITICISM in the past by IATA for having a safety record that was “well below international standards,” it has been reported in the Russian media that the government has adopted a programme to improve flight safety standards countrywide.

The programme envisions a gradual reform of the country’s flight safety management system through the creation of an advanced integrated data control and exchange network,” stated RIA Novosti.  “It will also assist the development of hardware and software to assist air traffic officials in decision-making processes.”
