A320’s 50 million flights

June 22: Airbus says that its A320 Family of aircraft has now accrued over 50 million flights worldwide, carrying an estimated five billion passengers.

The A320 entered commercial service in 1988 and to date 4,291 have been delivered to customers. “One of our A320 Family aircraft takes off every six seconds somewhere around the world,” said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “We are investing at least €100 million a year in the A320 Family in order to maintain it as the world’s most modern and fuel efficient aircraft family”.
