January 25: Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air confirmed it has sold two of its Airbus A340 aircraft as it implements its “Fleet Realignment Strategy”.

The two A340s have been purchased by an affiliate of Apollo Aviation Group in Florida, USA and were the oldest in Gulf Air’s fleet at 16 years old. Both were nearing extensive refurbishment to remain in service and the airline says it has saved $25 million in releasing the aircraft.
